As expected the iconic album went straight to No.1 on the UK album charts upon its release and was the second biggest selling album of the year. The album returned to the top of the charts again in February 2005 when it won “The Brit Award for Best Album”. With well over 6 million sales it was nominated for a special Brit Award for “The Best British Album of the Previous 30 Years” unfortunately only to lose out to Oasis with (What’s The Story) Morning Glory ?
