About The Albums
Elvis Presley
Released in 1956, The Elvis Presley album was Elvis’s debut album that started everything we know today in the world of Rock'n'Roll.
Both Elvis and Rock'n'Roll were still an unknown entity at that time but that didn’t stop the album going straight to the top of The Billboard Charts, where it stayed for ten weeks, and selling over a million copies.
The success was repeated around the World. Elvis and a new breed of music had arrived.
Elvis was bestowed with the title “The King of Rock”n”Roll” and that title has never been challenged to this day.
The album features all the tracks that bought Rock”n”Roll into the mainstream including Heartbreak Hotel, Blue Suede Shoes, My Baby Left Me and That’s All Right Mama amongst many others.
Still regarded as one of the most iconic and important albums of all time, this album is essential to any Elvis fan.
G. I. Blues
Released in 1960 to coincide with his return from Germany, where Elvis spent his National Service, G.I. Blues was his third and biggest selling Soundtrack to date.
Featuring such Elvis greats as the title track G.I. Blues and Wooden Heart it also featured another favourite little ditty called Blue Suede Shoes which seemed to go down quite well with the kids.
Blue Hawaii
Released in 1961, Blue Hawaii is the fourth Movie Soundtrack released by Elvis and without doubt his most iconic.
Second only to West Side Story it was the biggest selling movie soundtrack of the 1960’s including all those released by The Beatles. Featuring the worldwide smash Can’t Help Falling In Love the album topped the charts for 20 weeks and stayed top ten for 39 weeks.
Aloha From Hawaii
Released in 1973. Being the undisputed “King of Rock'n'Roll”, Elvis was always keen to be the first to break new boundaries.
As if giving us a whole new genre of music that we still love today and being Hollywood’s biggest selling box-office star was not enough, Elvis wanted to sing for The World…. and he did.
His charity concert from Hawaii was beamed around the globe via satellite in an event never seen before. Long before “Live Aid” or any other such endeavour, Elvis was the first to do it and 1.5 Billion people watched him which is around 50% of the World’s population at that time.
The album of the same title obviously would have the same impact.
